Sugar hammer
Tafadis –Tuareg– sugar hammer (Agadez region, Niger)
The people of the Air mountains call the hammer with which they break the sugar loaf before making tea Tafadis. It is a tool made entirely of Tuareg silver alloy finely decorated with small circles, crosses, constellations and Tchatchat, those triangles that outline a woman seen from the back.
Using a Tafadis is a luxury that those who call themselves owners of time give themselves. For this reason, they are always signed by the craftsman who shaped them. The one we have in Black Market was made by a certain Memet.
